BOARD AND COMMITTEES

COMMITTEE INFO

APLD Virtual Chapter members

Membership Committee

This group of about 4 volunteers takes care of our membership, both current and new. Their roles include:

  • Connecting and welcoming new members, following up with past members

  • Organizing a Chapter meeting at the Annual conference

  • Conducting a member input survey to learn more about our group

If you appreciate your membership in APLD and you like people even a little bit, you’d be a great fit for this team! Time commitment ranges from 1-3 hours per month.

Education & Events Committee

This group of about 5 volunteers plans and executes all the educational opportunities our Chapter offers - and we really offer a lot! Their roles include:

  • Planning educational webinars - 4 per year

  • Helping facilitate the Certification course and the Mentoring Program

  • Communicating about other educational opportunities for our members

  • Communicate about existing APLD resources online.

This team is a good fit if you like learning and/or are decent at learning a bit of online technology - all of our events are online, of course, since we’re spread all over. We use Zoom and Eventbrite for our offerings, neither of which are all that hard to learn. The time commitment depends on what role you take on, and can range around 1-4 hours per month.

Marketing Committee

This group of about 5 volunteers develops and manages our social media accounts and sends out emails to our members. The hard work of the other committees gives our Marketing team the content they need to show off our awesome Chapter. Their roles include:

  • Updating our website’s events calendar

  • Working with members to highlight their blogs on our website

  • Engaging with members, sponsors, other APLD Chapters, related organization and the public on our social media accounts

  • Sending updates and informational emails to our members

This team does require a bit of tech-savvy, but they have created all kinds of training to help people get up to speed. They’re organized and efficient, with good delegation and planning. Time commitment ranges from 2-4 hours per month.

This group of about 4 people works to cultivate relationships between our Chapter and industry sponsors. Their roles include:

  • Supporting and promoting our current sponsors

  • Developing relationships with new sponsors

If you love our APLD Chapter and you’re willing to talk to people, this team is a good fit! Sponsoring our group is a win-win for all involved. The time commitment depends on what role you take on, and can range around 1-4 hours per month.

  • Increasing access and representation among APLD members and their networks

  • Seek out events promoting DEI in the Landscape Industry

  • Communicate special holidays and events to the marketing Calendar

  • This team does require a bit of tech-savvy, but we have created all kinds of training to help people get up to speed. We’re organized and efficient, with good delegation and planning. Time commitment ranges from 2-4 hours per month.

If you have a heart to create a more inclusive, diverse Chapter, there are lots of ways you can serve in this committee. Time commitment doesn’t have to be much- even an hour or less per month.
